The Dental Implant Advantage in Tempe

Why Dental Implants?

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is placed into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. Dental implants are a perfect solution for people with good general oral health who have lost a tooth or multiple teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury, or some other reason.

Dental implants are actually a more permanent tooth-saving treatment than traditional bridgework, since implants do not rely on neighboring teeth for support.

Dental implants are so natural-looking and feeling, most people forget they ever lost a tooth. Everyone knows that confidence about the appearance of your teeth affects how you feel about yourself, both personally and professionally. Maybe you sometimes hide your smile because of spaces from missing or damaged teeth. Perhaps your dentures don't feel secure and cause difficulty in chewing. If you are missing one or more teeth and would like to smile, speak and eat again with comfort and confidence, Dr. Scott Connell at Valley Dental in Tempe has good news for you… Teeth repaired with dental implants can look and feel just like your own! With diligent dental hygiene maintenance, these implants can last a lifetime. Long-term studies continue to show improving success rates for dental implant procedures.

What Dental Implants in Tempe Can Do For You:

  • Replace one or more teeth without affecting bordering teeth.
  • Support a bridge and eliminate the need for a removable partial denture.
  • Provide support for a denture, making it more secure and comfortable.
  • Provide all teeth supported by implants. (no more dentures)
  • Give you back your self-esteem and confidence with your smile.

Why Is It Important to Choose the Right Tempe Arizona Dentist?

Strangely enough, some people give more thought to their brand of coffee than they do to choosing the right dentist. In a way, it's probably only natural: Most people look forward to their morning cup of java more than they do a good teeth cleaning, and most of us know what we like in coffee, but don't feel very informed when it comes to finding a dental professional.

But, finding the right Tempe Arizona dentist is important, if only because you want your teeth to be in great shape for decades to come. With that in mind, here are four criteria you can use to evaluate any dental office you're thinking of visiting:

Experience. Although newer dentists come along all the time, you probably want someone experienced handling anything beyond routine dental work. That way, you can have the confidence of knowing that they'll be able to properly assess any issues and give you the right care the first time.

Comfort. It only takes one uncomfortable dental experience to understand how important it is to have a Tempe Arizona dentist who makes sure that every experience is pain-free. Don't settle for anything less.

Location and hours. Visiting your dentist shouldn't mean canceling the rest of your day or driving to a part of town you don't normally visit. A good neighborhood dental office will work with you to find times that are convenient for you to come in.

Patient reviews. If you really want to find out about the work a dental office does, see what current and former patients have to say. These days it's easier than ever to find reviews and feedback online, so take advantage of those resources.

Of course, if you really want the best Tempe Arizona dentist working on your teeth, you can always contact Dr. Scott Connell and the Valley Dental team at 480-839-7996 to make an appointment today.

Why You'll Love Tempe Arizona One-Visit Dentistry

It used to be that visiting a Tempe Arizona dentist for any kind of restorative care – and especially crowns or veneers – meant undergoing a long and sometimes painful process that spanned multiple visits. But, with the rise of one-visit dentistry, everything is changing. Now, you can keep your teeth in beautiful, healthy condition, even after major work, without waiting for a lab to send restorations or crowns back to your dentist.

If you've ever been through a lengthy dental procedure, you already know how this can save you a great deal of time and stress. That's because, with specialized equipment located right in the dentist's office, it's now possible to create custom veneers, crowns, and fillings on-premise in just a couple of hours or less. With an on-site dental lab in our office, you can get chairside treatment in just one visit!

We think patients should demand the best from their Tempe Arizona dentist. That includes using modern equipment and techniques. With one-visit dentistry, Valley Dental can make your restorative dental work faster and less of a hassle. You'll enjoy:

Having perfectly matched fillings and veneers created in a hurry. Wouldn't you rather have your dental work finished more quickly? Most patients would, which is why they appreciate having a Tempe Arizona dentist who is able to complete even extensive procedures within just a few hours.

Avoiding the pain and discomfort of temporary fillings. In the old days of restorative dentistry, affected teeth had to be covered with temporary fillings and crowns, which mostly protected you from further damage but were uncomfortable and tough to look at. With one-day dentistry, these troubles are a thing of the past.

The ability to have your Tempe Arizona dentist make instant adjustments to fillings and crowns. What happens if your crown, filling, or veneer doesn't fit? In the old days, that meant ordering another copy from a lab with slight adjustments (and hoping that one would fit better). Now, adjustments can be made on the spot, to minimize both discomfort and waiting times.

Don't settle for anything less than the best Tempe Arizona dentist. Contact Dr. Scott Connell and the Valley Dental team at 480-839-7996 to make an appointment. Tempe dentist at: www.valleydentaltempe.com

The Future of Dentures...

In an ABC News chat with American Dental Association President Dr. Timothy Rose back in 2004... Dr. Rose was asked the following question regarding dentures: (his response follows)

Q:
Will dentures be a thing of the past in the future? How can the average person afford the sophisticated treatments of today?

A:
Dr. Timothy Rose:

"Dentures hopefully won't be the treatment of choice in the future. Rather, I would hope that implant dentistry and the replacement of teeth will be the treatment of choice. Patients should understand that a denture does not last a lifetime, that it needs constant maintenance and will have to be replaced periodically. The advantage of implant dentistry, once the implants are in place and are integrated, they can be used for a lifetime.

Each patient should evaluate all of their treatment options based on factors to include cost, but not limited to cost alone. Some of the more costly procedures last longer, and over a moderately extended period of time, are more cost effective than some of the initially less costly procedures that have to be re-done more frequently."

Now, almost ten years later... we see how far implant retained dentures and tooth replacement technology has come. Learn more implant dentistry in Arizona from dental implant specialist Dr. Scott Connell.

What is Cosmetic Dentistry...?

Tempe Arizona Cosmetic Dentistry Treatments...

Cosmetic dentistry treatments currently in use include:

Inlays/Onlays: Also known as indirect fillings, inlays and onlays made from porcelain or composite materials are a long-lasting yet cosmetic way to provide a “filling” to teeth with tooth decay or similar structural damage. Whereas dental fillings are molded into place within the mouth during a dental visit, inlays and onlays are created in a dental laboratory before being fitted and adhesively bonded into place by your dentist in Tempe.

Composite Bonding: Chipped, broken, discolored or decayed teeth may be repaired or have their appearance corrected using a procedure called composite bonding. A dental composite material with the look of enamel and dentin is applied into the cavity or onto the surface of a tooth, where it is then sculpted into shape, contoured and hardened with a high-intensity light. The result is a restoration that blends invisibly with the remainder of the surrounding tooth structure and the rest of your natural teeth to create a healthy, bright smile.

Teeth Whitening: Teeth whitening is perhaps the most commonly recommended cosmetic dentistry procedure. Teeth are often stained from smoking, food, drink (coffee, tea or red wine) or poor oral hygiene. Bleaching the teeth can enhance the appearance of your smile.

Dental Veneers: Composite or porcelain veneer laminates that are adhesively bonded to the surface of a tooth to correct and repair chips and cracks will improve a worn appearance or severe tooth discoloration. Veneers may also be recommended if you have gaps in your teeth or if you have not had success with teeth whitening.

Dental Implants: Dental implants are artificial tooth root replacements that are used as a part of prosthetic (artificial replacement) dentistry in order to compensate for tooth loss. Often the result is not only an enhanced smile, but also a more youthful appearance, since missing teeth cause the face to collapse, making you look older.

Smile Makeover: A smile makeover involves a comprehensive assessment of your smile esthetics in order to improve its overall appearance. Typically one or more cosmetic dentistry procedures, such as dental veneers, dental implants, gingival sculpting and teeth whitening, will be required for several teeth in both the upper and lower arches in order to achieve the look you want.

Full mouth reconstruction: While consulting with you about a smile makeover to primarily improve the esthetic appearance of your smile, your dentist may discover that there is a need to provide necessary treatment to correct functional problems with your bite, muscles, teeth and bone structure. If you need full mouth reconstruction, the materials available today make it possible for your dentist to provide you with durable, functional and clinically sound treatments that also look natural.

Cosmetic dentistry offers many options for Tempe, AZ residents who are unhappy with their smile. If you are one of these people, we encourage you to visit our main website to learn about the various treatments available to beautify your smile.
